About us > The Work of the Group
Drumaroad Community Regeneration (DCR) formerly known
as Drumaroad Hall Steering Group was set up in December 2000
and was formally constituted in December 2001. The organisation
consists of 14 active members drawn from a wide range of key
local interest groups.
The group has come together to act as a catalyst for the
development and stimulation of a wide range of social and
community activities and services to meet local community
needs. The leasing and redevelopment of Drumaroad
Parish Hall forms the crux of the ethos of the organisation.
The hall will act as the focal point for the delivery of a
wide spectrum of community services to key target groups including
young people, the elderly, families with children, single
parents etc. with the ultimate aim of:
- putting the social heart back into the community
- providing a hub of activities to ensure that people stay within
the community and that their needs are meet appropriately and
adequately
- increasing local community spirit through social integration
and interaction
- providing opportunities for cross community development and
interaction
- stimulating training and employment opportunities
While DCR is relatively young, its commitment
to meeting its aims and objectives is unquestioned. Members
have a common vision for the provision of much needed community
services locally and what is needed to deliver these. Members
are drawn from a wide spectrum of key interest groups in the
area and are largely representative of the wider community.
New members are always welcome.
